Through the Timiza Ugatuzi Programme the Turkana County Civil society network hopes to address water access to both Kobuin and Naduat health facilities. The health facility committees both in Naduat and Kobuin discussed in details the challenges of water and how it affects their health and sanitation as a health facility and community at large. The communities expressed lack of information on who to ask, and how to ask, prompting them to accept the community led advocacy interventions. The committees, have through the fact-finding missions in both Kobuin and Naduat established that that they are not aware if the health facilities allocations are accompanied with water and, that it is the county responsibility to ensure water is fully supplied to the devolved public institutions. The activity was implemented as planned and no deviation.
The way forward was, together with the health facility committees and communities, the CSO lead will help in organizing a meeting with both water and health departments of the county government, where the findings will be shared with them and expect their reactions. The committees were also helped to understand that the activity is total community led, with little technical support from the CSO members.
Key deliverables include – Development of comprehensive fact-finding report.
