Our Governance Team

Act! is governed by a Board of Directors and members; a total of 9 highly trained and qualified professional deduced from diverse competencies and expertise not limited to capacity development, grants management and finance, legal, policy, research and training and the civil society sector. The Board not only provides institutional oversight, but also policy guidance and offering strategic direction. A management team supports the board and is accountable for the daily operations of Act! Equally, it is charged with the implementation of the Act! strategy, board directives excluding programme implementation and financial management.

Donald Mark Odera,Board Chairman:

Is the Partner, Advisory Services at Horwath Erastus & Co. and a respected Acounting and Finance professional with extensive public and private sector and NGO experience. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA); a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Acountants of Kenya (CPA-K); and an Associate of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Tom Were,Chief Executive Officer:

Tom Were is an accomplished senior management professional, international certified executive leadership coach and an adept leader with over 19years of experience in the public, private and development sectors. He has exceptional skills and experience in key sectors of social and economic development, profiling and offering advisory support to strategic public-private partnerships. He has served in the public, private and development sectors with national, regional and global organizations mainly in senior management and top leadership roles. Prior to joining Act! in August 2018 as the Chief Executive Officer, he served as Senior Advisor with Strategic Connections Limited.

Mr. Hawi Odingo

Mr. Hawi Odingo is an expertise in finance and administration management gained from international commercial and non-profit sectors provides assurance of a solid base to deliver on quality cost effective and efficient solutions to public, private and non-profit organizations. He is a certified public accountant and practicing accountant on advisory and consultancy basis. Mr. Odingo is a member of the Elections Committee at the Institute of Public Accountants Kenya ICPA(K) charged with developing systems and overseeing transparent election process for the institute. Mr. Odingo joined the Board of Act! Change Transform in June 2020 and will serve as the convener of the Finance and Audit Committee of the Board

Judith Oluoch

A seasoned Institutional and Capacity Development Specialist with over 18 years working experience. She has worked with several public and private Institutions both locally and regionally in designing, coordinating and facilitating Corporate Governance and Leadership programmes and various Institutional Capacity Building initiatives.

Samuel Ndonga Mwangi

Is an experienced professional with over 10 years in the Private Sector and International Development. He has vast experience in Sustainable Private Sector Development, Renewable Energy and Agribusiness

Jane Muiruri

Jane holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and is a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM). She has over 20 years Human Resources experience spanning different industries and countries.

She is currently the Head of Human Resources at Nation Media Group PLC Ltd. Prior to this role, she served as the Senior HR Manager responsible for the Editorial, Advertising and Production departments at NMG.
