Introduction
Act Change Transform (Act!) is a local Non-Governmental Organization whose mission is to
facilitate the empowerment of marginalized people and communities in Kenya and
neighbouring countries, to become active participants in their development by enabling them
to: stand up for their rights; demand good governance in the management of resources; and
participate in decision-making processes. Act! does this through implementing partners,
offering them capacity development, management of grants so that value for money is
achieved and providing strategic leadership in national advocacy for the benefit of women,
youth, people with disabilities and other marginalized communities

Role Summary
Act! is seeking to recruit an Associate Consultant in Fundraising & Resource Development.
The position holder will provide specialized technical support in resource mobilization. This role
focuses on managing efforts to cultivate and find new partnerships, facilitating essential linkages
to potential new opportunities for funding and collaborations, and actively participating in the
design and development of concepts, proposals, and grant application packages in line with
requirements and guidelines. S/he will contribute to ensuring that the Resource Mobilization and
Unrestricted Income Generation efforts of the organization match the strategic requirements for
program development, growth, and sustainability – by extension, the mission of Act! is sustained
and the strategic objectives realized.

Qualification, Experience and Skills
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Resource Mobilization,
Business Management, International Development or a related field. A Master’s degree or
relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
Professional Experience: Minimum 10 years’ fundraising experience with a demonstrated track
record of successfully contributing to or leading competitive proposals for bilateral/multilateral
donors in Kenya and the Eastern Africa Region in sectors relevant to the work of Act!. These
include Democracy & Human Rights; Peace Building and Conflict Transformation; Sustainable
Environment & Natural Resource Management; and Civil Society Strengthening. Experience in
partnership development with nontraditional donors is highly desirable.

• Demonstrated research and analysis skills.

Complexity and difficulty of the work
The role requires a high level of initiative, strategic thinking, sector knowledge, professional
networks, and demonstrated ability to convert opportunities into tangible funding and program
outcomes. The Associate Consultant will operate as an independent professional working in
association with Act!, rather than as a member of Act!’s permanent staff establishment.
Assignments will be undertaken based on agreed scope of work and mutual availability.
The Associate Consultant may work with other organizations or clients, provided there is no conflict
of interest with Act! or a specific engagement.
