Our Approach
Capacity Development and Grants Management is central to Act!’s development practice. It involves both in-house training, practical workplace mentorship and technical assistance to partner organizations working within Act!’s core programme areas.
We are committed to ensuring that our capacity development efforts enhance the skills and capacities of partner organizations to enable them effectively realize their programming objectives and meet the desired needs of the target communities
For more than a decade, we have provided technical assistance to over 300 non-state actor organizations to make a lasting change to communities in Kenya and neighboring countries.
Technical Assistance and Guidance:
We work towards developing and strengthening the skills and abilities that individuals, communities and organizations need to address, respond, adapt and thrive in a fast changing environment in order to achieve long term and sustainable positive change. We employ a wide range of ‘tailor made’ and thematic training interventions, technical assistance and mentoring to partner organizations for maximum impact in the process of societal transformation.
Organizational Development
As part of our capacity development efforts, we seek to improve an organization’s performance in order to achieve its mission, serve its constituents and manage change more effectively and efficiently. This covers areas such as organizational capacity assessment, governance and leadership, core competencies, services and programs.
Grants Management
We act as grant managers by receiving large grants from donors and sub-granting to qualified development actors to implement their own developmental projects. We mentor the grant recipients on fund management to ensure good and effective utilization of resources to achieve the agreed developmental goals.
