Through the Resilience, Peace and Stability (RPS) Program, funded by the Embassy of Denmark in Kenya, we were honored to support the Launch of Kenya’s Third National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security (2025-2029) and the 25th Anniversary of UNSCR 1325.
The launch, officiated by Hannah Wendot, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services, and Anne Wang’ombe, Principal Secretary, SDfGA, marked a milestone in advancing women’s leadership in peace and security across Kenya.
The event brought together Government leaders, Peacebuilders, and Development Partners including the Irish Embassy in Kenya, Embassy of Peru, UN Women Kenya, UK in Kenya, Conciliation Resources, Reinvent Programme-, International Conference on the Great Lakes Region, among others, providing a platform to reflect on Kenya’s journey implementing UNSCR 1325.
Key discussions examined lessons from KNAP I and II and strategies for translating national commitments into local action across 19 counties, highlighting the pivotal role women play in fostering resilient communities and sustainable peace.
