Last week marked a significant milestone for the Kenya Devolution Programme (KDP) – Timiza Ugatuzi funded by UK in Kenya as the joint journey between Act!, PwC, and LREB-MATC commissioned the automated Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (eMEL) system.
This initiative aims to respond to the need for evidence-based policies as the Lake Region Economic Bloc multi-agency technical committee implement their driving strategy of the multi-agency action plan.
The event was graced by H.E. Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o – Governor, Kisumu County and H.E Dr Paul Otuoma – Governor, Busia County, Zoe Wilderg, Team Leader, Political and Governance at the BHC, John Omingo- Head of Commercial Shipping at KMA and CEO – LREB among other key stakeholders.
The eMEL system is set to transform blue economy initiatives within the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) by enabling data-driven decision-making, attracting investments through transparent and reliable data, and fostering collaboration among counties, national agencies, universities, and private sector stakeholders.
By showcasing measurable progress and impacts, the system builds investor confidence while enhancing joint planning and coordination for efficient resource use. Additionally, it optimizes resource allocation by identifying high-impact initiatives, ensuring efforts are prioritized for maximum effectiveness and sustainability.
This marks the beginning of a transition journey that will ensure the sustainability and continued operation of the system beyond the lifespan of the KDP Programme.
